Besiege levels9/13/2023 And since I mounted the bombs on grabbers, I could pick up some rubble with the bombless grabbers and balance my airship out that way. Dropping from opposite corners is ideal to maintain stability, but an uneven COM doesn't always spell doom for your craft. Dropping all bombs from one side will cause the COM to shift and the craft to lean to the side the COM shifted to. When you have a weapon payload you also want to take into account changes of your COM. 4 cannons and 4 grabbers with bombs mounted on the underside. I used the wing panels to mount weapons on and to provide support for the rafters. I removed them for the sake of the image since you couldn't see anything with them there. The rails to the sides of the craft are where the balloons are mounted on. It's not pretty but hopefully this will give you inspiration and help me illustrate what I'm trying to convey. Here is a picture of my first zeppelin, which I used to ace the new levels with. Balance is everything when it comes to aircraft. If it's too far to the left then you get the idea, and if the COM is above the COL then it'll want to flip upside down. If it's too far behind then it'll want to drag its ass along the ground and/or flip. If the center of mass is too far ahead it'll nosedive into the ground and/or flip. Imagine your machine dangling from the heavens by a string, with the string being your COL. With zeppelins, they should ideally be in line with each other for maximum stability, with the center of lift on a higher level than (but still in line on the X and Y axes with) your COM. You also need to pay attention to center of mass and lift, the former of which is togglable under the part counter in build mode. Wings rotated to a horizontal angle(like a _) resist changes in pitch. Wings rotated to a vertical angle(like a |) resist changes to yaw. They also provide aerodynamic stability to your craft. They cover a larger area than wooden blocks while weighing the same so it's more efficient to use 1 wing panel instead of a 1x3 wooden beam(s) to cross a gap or create distance, at the cost of number of mount points and mount locations. Only use wooden blocks to mount other objects onto them and connect them together with braces.Ĭonsider using wing panels in place of wooden blocks. Cannons work well if you have decent aim and have very little risk of self-harm compared to other weapons. Create a zeppelin they are easiest to construct and control.
